Automated Messaging is the core part of your campaigns and enables you to reach a significant number of prospects with little effort. It's important that you take some time to really polish your messages. If you need some ideas, here's our Prospect Messaging Guide to help you get started.

We've all heard the saying that first impressions matter -- your automated messages within your campaigns are the first touch point you have with your prospects, and they really matter.

Set up Automated Messaging

Step 1: Go to your SocialLead Dashboard.

Step 2: Select "My Campaign" and then select your campaign (ex. My Campaign) from the drop-down.

Step 3: Click the Campaign Status toggle and disable your campaign (you must do this to be able to edit your automated messages)

Step 4: Select the "Automated Messaging" tab to start editing the messaging sequence.

Step 5: Click on "Edit" next to "Connection Request Message" to start editing.Type up your message and remember to save it when done.

PRO TIP: Use the {firstname} button and our AI will input the name for you!

Step 6: Click on "Edit" next to "2nd Message" to start editing. Type up your message and then proceed to Step 7.

Step 7: Set the Follow-Up Timing. Which is the amount of time SocialLead will wait before sending the 2nd Message. We recommend anywhere from 120-240 minutes.

Step 8: After you set up the 2nd Message, you have the option to set up additional follow-ups (3rd Message, etc.). To do so, please repeat Step 5 and Step 6 for each subsequent follow-up message.

Step 9: Once you have configured your automated message, reactivate your campaign.

Breakdown of types of messages

  1. Connection Request Message: Sent together with your connection request and is your first touchpoint with your prospect. Use this message to give them a reason to connect with you.

Tip: Don't come across as too salesy -- your goal is to intrigue them enough to make the connection

  2. 2nd Message: Sent after your prospect accepts your connection request and becomes a first-degree connection. Use this message to thank them for the connection and give them a bit more insight into your goals.

    1. You will need to set up Follow-up Timing for the 2nd Message to go out. We recommend setting the delay to anywhere from two hours to a day

Tip: It is a good idea to start moving the conversation to a phone or Zoom call

  3. 3rd Message: This is only sent if your prospect hasn't replied to the 2nd Message. This message doesn't need to be elaborate as it's primarily a reminder nudge to the top of their inbox that you have yet to hear back.

    1. You will need to set up Follow-up Timing for the 3rd Message to go out. We recommend setting the delay to anywhere from three to five days.

Remember:

These automated messages are here to get the first reply from your prospect. Once they've replied, it's your job to carry the conversation and manually follow up. Prospects who reply to you will be removed from the automation and appear in your Inbox.
